I know this greeting is premature, but I can\u2019t help telling you about a few of the things we have planned for 2019.\u00a0First and foremost is the 46th<\/sup> Everyone Reading Conference on Dyslexia and Related Learning Disabilities,<\/em><\/strong> March 4<\/a> and 5, 2019, at the CUNY Graduate Center:\u00a0New York City Department of Education Chancellor Richard Carranza and Sesame Workshop\u2019s Akimi Gibson are our keynote speakers.\u00a0Esther Klein Friedman, NYCDOE Executive Director of Literacy, Academic Intervention and Library Services will be our honoree.\u00a0Sign up now. There are lots of special rates, especially for early birds.<\/p>\n

ALSO IN 2019\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

SPIRE<\/strong><\/em> will be back with two one-day workshops on January 16<\/a> and 17, 2019.\u00a0 Registration is open.\u00a0 Sign up soon.\u00a0 SPIRE<\/strong><\/em> workshops fill up fast.<\/p>\n

We are hosting three IMSE<\/em><\/strong> (Institute of Multi-Sensory Education<\/em>)<\/strong> week-long seminars, in January, February and April. Registration is open for the January 21-25<\/a>seminar.<\/p>\n

We will have a two-day SRSD (Self-Regulated Strategy Development)<\/em><\/strong> WRITING workshop scheduled for February 6 and 7, 2019..<\/p>\n

Anita Archer<\/em><\/strong> is returning on Saturday, March 9, 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On March 25, 2019<\/a>, Kendore<\/em><\/strong> will do a day on Multi-Sensory Strategies for the Classroom<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our new website is still under construction; so we are a little slow about posting registration sites.\u00a0 I will let you know as we open them up.<\/p>\n

Richard A. Carranza<\/em><\/strong> is Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, the largest school system in the nation. He is responsible for educating 1.1 million students in over 1,800 schools.\u00a0 During his nearly 30 years in education, he has served in virtually every role. Prior to New York City, he was the superintendent of the Houston Independent School District, the largest school district in Texas, and the seventh largest in the United States. Before that, he served the San Francisco Unified School District, first as deputy superintendent and then as superintendent. Before moving to San Francisco, Carranza was the Northwest Region superintendent for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Akimi Gibson, Vice President and Education Publisher, Sesame Learning, Sesame Workshop<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Akimi Gibson<\/em><\/strong> is Vice President and Education Publisher, Sesame Learning, at Sesame Workshop, the media and education nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street. She leads the formal education initiatives, partnerships, and business for Sesame Workshop. Gibson is also a children’s book author, a former program administrator and literacy coach. As a former classroom teacher, she has worked with infants and toddlers, to special needs second grade, to literacy tutoring for students in K-6th grade.<\/p>\n

Sesame Workshop has been at the forefront of SEL research, with decades of rigorous research backing their mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.<\/p>\n
